1. Why is there so much concern about lead?

Lead effects the nervous system in all

humans, and particularly in children, leading possibly to learning disabilities.

2. When was that discovered?

Several decades ago.  At which time the US stopped the use of lead in many products. Gasoline in the early 1970's and all paint products in 1978.

3. If lead paint was used in my house, what should I do?

Maintain all painted surface to have no deteriorating paint present. Also have it evaluated by a lead inspection company (Topnotch Lead) for possible hazards.

4. What is the difference in a lead inspection and a risk assessment?

A lead inspection identifies how much lead is present in the paint. An xray type gun is used to take readings on all painted surfaces throughout the house, in order to make this report.  A risk assessment identifies any hazards associated with the fact that lead base paint was used on this house.

5. What's the cost for a Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment evaluation?

Typically from $500-$800 depending on the size of the house.
